Pot Roast Surprise | Another Cola Recipe

Pot Roast Surprise | Another Cola Recipe

Crockpots are amazingly wonderful things. They help us speed things up in the kitchen and get a good, relatively healthy meal on the table with little effort. Yet, unlike processes foods that you throw in the microwave (at unknown risks to your family‘s health), the foods that you put in a crockpot are natural. A whole chicken. A roast. Real stuff. Stuff you are proud to serve.  Granted, the cola is not, but we can’t be perfect all the time can we?! We mentioned to you before about how to cook a chicken in the crockpot with cola and now we want to share a similarly delicious recipe for a pot roast with cola. It is super easy to prep, hands-off to cook and unbelievably yummy! You’ll need:

1 roast, 2-3 pounds (bottom round, chuck roast, your favorite cut)

1 envelope onion soup mix (dry)

1 can of cola (your choice, 12 oz., not the diet version)

½  pound of bacon, cooked and crumbled

4 Tbl. Bacon drippings

1 can cream of celery soup (12 oz.)

2 Tbl. Flour

Place 1st 5 ingredients in your crockpot and cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours. With one hour remaining in your cooking time, temporarily remove your roast and add the last 2 ingredients. Blend well until a nice, thick gravy forms. Replace roast and continue to cook for one more hour.

Serve sliced with your best mashed potatoes, and gravy over everything. Hey, we never said this was a “lite” meal, just a tasty one. And, the best part is that no one will ever know that all the flavor comes from a can of cola.
